SAAS Boys Ultimate Varsity, otherwise known as BRUV, just finished their 2023 Frisbee season. The team this year had 4 Captains. The captains were James Ezzo (Jr.), Logan Vaughn (Sr.), Gunnison Sweeney (Sr.), and Skye Pratley (Sr.). They helped lead the team to a 4-6 Season, defeating Bush and University Prep two times each, losing in competitive games against Overlake, Northwest, and the state champions Eastside Prep. In the middle of the season, SAAS played in a tournament known as the Seattle Invite, one of the largest and most competitive youth ultimate tournaments in America, with seven of the top ten teams in the country attending. Varsity merged with the JV team and struggled during their games, especially with the absence of some key varsity players. The team did not win a game during the tournament, partly due to being placed in the most competitive group with three other teams all being High-seeded. 2 of which made it to the semifinals and 1 of which got second place. At the end of the season, team awards were given out. The headliner of the award winners was captain James Ezzo, winning team MVP and breaking the SAAS point-scoring record earlier in the season, marking his name down in SAAS history. Despite not making it to state this year, SAAS frisbee has a promising future, with the team next year projected to have the most varsity experience of all SAAS frisbee teams ever. Everybody should look forward to watching the team play next year as they hope to achieve new accolades and make it to the state tournament.
